Portable DVD Player

One last post before I hit the bed. My sister was asking me if I could find for her a portable DVD player online. I told her she can search for one and any other electronics online that she might need but I will still help her. She did not say to whom it is for. It may be for our dad but he wanted something else as far as I know.

Well I won't make this long since I am so sleepy already and it is almost midnight here and in a few hours we have to wake up and attend the last dawn mass or Misa De Gallo. Yes we will be completing our nine days novena dawn mass in a few hours from now. I really have no specific wish. We were actually asking our one year old son CT what his wish is since he also will be completing the nine day novena dawn mass tomorrow. Yes we have been bringing CT with us during the 4:30AM dawn masses since it started last December 16. And he seems to be enjoying it and he sees other young kids in the church too. Night for now and happy holidays!

Another Manic Monday

If you were at a friend’s house for a holiday dinner and you found a dead cockroach in your salad, what would you do?
>> I would be shocked of course and hopefully I have not eaten any of it yet before I saw it. I would definitely call the attention of my friend but in private so that it would not cause a stir.

If you could put anyone you know on Prozac, who would you choose?
>> Someone I knew. I may get depressed at times but I do not think I have a major depressive disorder so as to need that.

How do you feel about public displays of affection?
>> A simple kiss like with married couples and hugs or holding hands would be acceptable but something torrid and more than that should be done somewhere private in my opinion.

I would like to wish everyone happy holidays and I hope you are done with your Christmas shopping and well as for me I still have to look for those which my friend was telling me about.

Mana Davao's Christmas Display

If you happen to be in Davao this Christmas, then you should see the Christmas display at Mana Davao along J.P. Laurel Avenue, Bajada, Davao City. You won't miss it at night till 12 midnight coz the lights are simply attractive and you would surely notice it when you pass it by unless of course when you close your eyes. It has become a Christmas in Davao attraction and in my opinion a mini park of sorts since people are coming there at night to enjoy the sight and to take souvenir photos.

Here is one of the photos taken there and you can see other photos here: Mana Davao’s Christmas Trees, Decors & Lights.

Simple Food Prep

It has been in hubby and my mind what food we would prepare for Christmas. But since it would just be me, him and CT in the house and we are not really expecting guests except for my PILs on the afternoon of 24th which is tomorrow. So we decided to go for just a simple food preparation. We already bought the ingredients for our white penne salad. Well not actually white since there would be raisins. That is what we have been cooking here if we want some pasta, especially me! It is just easy to prepare and I like the San Remo penne pasta. Then we might just order lasagna from Ems Pasta and Rolls tomorrow that is if we have time to go there tomorrow. We just need to buy seedless grapes and basically that's just it. We might decide to cook the Papat's ham that was given by their company. When we went to GMall yesterday afternoon, they ran out of Purefoods pear shaped ham (which we plan to bring at my parents so that mom can cook it coz he can really cook it deliciously) which is more affordable at around P168 compared to the Purefoods Fiesta ham and other hams sold there including Papat's which cost around P368-P400.

Well I really plan not to over eat this Christmas and New Year but what can I say food is simply too tempting to resist. So the plan may remain just a plan. Opppsss! I really wanted to diet or if not then eat as much as I want but I have to exercise as much as I want or need to burn those calories and fats. I keep on telling myself to diet and even reading those Lipovox reviews is another reminder for me to be determined when I say I wanna go on a diet. Maybe I can start by not eating rice in all my meals. But that would be a crash diet and in this holiday season it is somehow impossible. Maybe I can skip rice at night which may be a good start.

How are you these days? Well since this is the holiday season and Christmas is just less than two days away, I expect people to be busy and just do not have much time to blog. If you are going out just like here in Davao, expect traffic in the streets and waiting longer to get a taxi ride in the malls or anywhere. Just like yesterday we were forced to ride the jeep going to Mana Davao with CT with us who we have to tell to cover his mouth and nose because aside from the traffic, there is more air pollution since there are more cars, PUJs and vehicles in the streets at these times.

There are lots of people in the mall and just like yesterday when we went to the grocery to buy ingredients for the salad we will be making for Christmas, the line in the grocery cashier counters are already long when we arrived and people have more stuff in their carts which means it would take more time to wait for your turn to pay. So who says there is a financial crisis? Well there is actually since there are still a lot of people who have cut down on their shopping and grocery budget this year compared last year. Even in the US, this year is the worse for stores since people have cut down in their shopping spree budget this year compared to last year. Stores have extended their store hours just to have more sales and there are more discounts given to shoppers. The recession is at its worse in years and stores continue to lay off workers and worse the stores have to close down due to losses.

Well there is always hope and the holidays are supposed to bring us joy and bliss despite the present financial problems the world may be facing. Remember that Christmas is not about material things for we should remember that Jesus is the reason for the season and not really the gifts we will give and receive. It's Jesus birthday and not ours, right?

Enjoy the blessings that come your way. Life is not all about money and material things. There are far more important things that we need that does not necessarily involves money, like love, presence of our loved ones, laughter, smiles even from strangers that can lighten our day how much more if it comes from our loved ones. As they say, the best things in life are free and indeed this is true but we tend to forget that and ignore that. Well these are just some thoughts of mine.

Again happy holidays!!! I guess the coming year will be a challenge to make ourselves a blessing to other people. What do you think? :)

Have a merry, blissful and peaceful Christmas!!!
More blessings in life for the coming year!!!

Party, Party, Party

Basically it will be party... party... party tomorrow and then Saturday. Tomorrow is hubby's day so even if there is really no party but we surely will be dining out somewhere. Then there is the party in the afternoon for the children's Christmas party and well of course there will be food! Then there will be another party for the children on Saturday in hubby's office and of course there will be food again.

But it is my resolve this Christmas holiday season to control my eating. I know it is within our hands whether we eat all that we see and is offered to us. The financial crisis all around the world is somehow a blessing in disguise don't you think since people tend to shop for food less this season as I assume and its effect is just like a natural fat burner coz you eat and drink less due to budget constraint therefore there is less tendency to gain weight during Christmas.

But then again there are still other kinds of food that we can still afford and still tend to binge on right? With hubby taking the afternoon shift I tend to skip my meals but then again I substitute it with candies in the fridge and I tend to consume not just one pack but more coz I am craving for sweets when I am hungry. Just like now I skipped lunch altogether since we left and I went to the bank with CT while hubby promised to just have his late lunch in the office. Now I am craving for sweets. Tomorrow's party will likely to have sweets too so I should really control. Unless I run a mile each day which is not that feasible.

Exchange Gift

The children here in the apartment and some other kids within the neighborhood will be having their Christmas party tomorrow afternoon. They had picked names of who they have choosen for the exchange gift last week. Well I do not know if they did not really left the name that our dear CT picked well he actually has no choice because he got the name of the only one left to be picked. We are not sure maybe the kids indeed left the name of the kid "A" because he is not among the one they liked most. Anyway kids are kids and am sure we understand and for us it does not really matter who CT picked.

What concerns me now is if we have time to choose a nice gift for "A" since we do not have much time left to go shopping. Hubby has changed his duty sked to the afternoon so that he can join us in the Misa de Gallo every morning. Am happy we have not missed one so far. Anyway, going back to the exchange gift to buy, I am still trying to decide if we will buy "A" a chessboard or a shirt.

Well I hope we can easily choose for him tomorrow so that we have more time to go shopping for other things. It is also hubby's day tomorrow so it was quite a conflict when they also scheduled the kids' Christmas party tomorrow. Maybe we can just make an excuse later in the afternoon that we have another party to go to.

Time To Change

Just like in the line of a shampoo commercial on local TV, "It's time to change" then I think it's time to change our faucet in the bathroom so that we can make use of it since it loose and it often leaks after when you turn it on. I wanted to change it into one of those Hansgrohe bathroom faucet that I saw. It is somehow similar to the kind of sink we have in the kitchen sink. I like the way the water flows out of the faucet and it is just convenient to use in the bathroom sink. I am wondering though if hubby will like it as much as I do and buy it online. Well let's hope he does otherwise I might just have to scout for something just like it in the local hardware stores.

Less Fat

We have been doing a lot of frying when we cook at home since it is more easy and convenient to do. But hubby lately wanted us to do some healthy cooking but still enjoy the food that we are used to having on our table and eating what we want. Well just like the fries we cook for CT which we have to admit is often oily since it is fried and even if we place it on paper towel to absorb the oil there is still more oil inside it. I found this Lean Mean Fryer online yesterday and I just want to try it at home. It knocks out 55% of the fat absorbed during frying so there is less oil, less fat in your fried food. I'm just going to check it out how much and who knows hubby may just get one for us at home.
